| Q. How does technology in a clinic help a patient? |
| A.Contrary to what a lot of people think, technology and materials used in the dental clinic do have a direct and huge impact on the kind of dental services provided by any dental clinic. |
 |
| • |
Microscope gives a magnified view of the tooth (4 to 25 times) thus enabling the dentist to see any problem in the tooth and repair it. The quality of work is amazing if done under the magnification of an Operating Surgical Microscope. |
 |
| • |
State- of- the- Art ergonomic chair enables you as a patient to be comfortable on the dental chair. The more sophisticated it is, the more comfortable and safe you are. |
 |
| • |
Use of modern and technologically advanced equipments increase the quality and speed of work done by the dentist thus decreasing patient chair time and discomfort. |
 |
| • |
Safety from infectious diseases by the use of autoclave (type B), sterilizing solutions and surface disinfectants. |
 |
| • |
Use of Radiovideograph (RVG) and a digital x-ray machine reduce radiation by 90% (as compared to a normal x-ray machine) and decreases chair time. |
 |
| • |
New technology allows the patient to participate in the diagnosis, treatment and even preview end results! |
 |
| The Ultimate beneficiary of any technological advancement is the PATIENT!! |
|

Dr.Bartakke saw the need for uncompromised quality of work early in his career. Apart from being computerised, several practical technological innovations are used in both the clinics: |
| |
| Microscope |
 |
| Dr. Bartakke uses the microscope (Carl Zeiss) for all dental procedures. Unlike a lot of dentists around the world who use it only for a few dental procedures like root canal treatment; Dr. Bartakke uses the microscope for crown preparation, surgical extractions, suturing, root canal treatments, fillings, cosmetic treatment, implant placements etc. |
| |
| Radiovideograph (RVG) |
This little device is slowly replacing the work of a dental x-ray film. It is a sensor attached to the hardware and the computer. When the sensor is placed in the mouth and the x-ray falls on the sensor, the signals are passed onto the computer projecting the image on the computer screen. The condition of the teeth and bone can be immediately seen. This diagnostic aid saves a lot of time for the patient as one doesn’t have to wait for the dental x-ray film to be developed and the treatment plan can be made instantly. |
| |
| Intra-oral camera |
 |
| This device is a camera that can be placed in the mouth and photos are taken. The camera is linked up to the computer screen on the dental chair and pictures can be seen in an instant. The advantage of the camera is that the patient can be instantaneously shown what needs to be done or already has been done. The other benefit from this is that the dentist can analyse his own work that is important to achieve perfection. Dr. Bartakke has both LED and fibreoptic intraoral cameras. |
| |
| Autoclave |
|
This steam sterilizer is the best way for sterilizing any instrument. Many clinics around the world use only a water boiler or cold chemical sterilizers.
Type B sterilizing autoclave is used in both the clinics. This is the type that is paramount in the present available market. The autoclaves are totally automatic. It has auto-diagnosis and the automatic detection malfunction system. There is a crosscheck of pressure and temperature. Such features are good because they tell the dentist whether the sterilization has been done properly and the patients are protected from cross- contamination |

| Piezotome |
 |
| This device used for intra-oral surgical procedure offers distinct advantages to the surgeon as it allows definite bone incisions with minimal invasiveness and hemostatic field of vision that significantly reduces the damage to soft tissues i.e. nerve and blood vessels adjacent to the treatment area. Equally significant is a quieter, less traumatic experience for the patient that has the potential to reduce post surgical swelling and discomfort compared to many traditional methods. Piezotome offers the surgeon the opportunity to perform difficult extractions and preserve surrounding thin buccal plates in the esthetic zone. These procedures are useful when removing damaged roots without elevator and to section ankylosed (fused to bone) or impacted teeth in the precise fashion. |

| VITA Easyshade machine |
| It is a digital spectrophotometer that determines the shade of natural tooth or a restoration with great precision so as to make the new restoration mimic a natural tooth. Whether it is a filling or a laboratory fabricated restoration, this machine provides an unparallel shade match. The information values of lightness, chroma and hue obtained by this gadget enable the doctor and technician to achieve optimal matched shaded restorations. |

| Physiodispenser Chiropro 980 |
This surgical aid is of great help in implant surgeries, microsurgery and any other form of dental surgeries. The pump does not require cleaning. Only a new sterile irrigation line needs to be fitted. The ease of use, control over speed, torque and fluid flow rate makes work very efficient and prevents any tissue destruction while using is of great importance. |
| |
| PRGF (BTI) machine |
 |
| A special machine used for select surgical procedures, when there is a need of excellent healing especially after implant surgeries, microsurgeries and bone grafting procedures. This machine uses the centrifuge principle to extract the component rich in platelet rich-growth factors (PRGF) from the plasma present in the blood.
Blood is withdrawn from the patient. The blood is centrifuged in it. The Plasma Rich in Growth Factors (PRGF) is mixed with the bone graft or around the region in the mouth or over the implant where blood clot formation is required. It results in miraculous healing |

| State – of - the – Art dental chairs & dental unit |
The chairs are ergonomic in shape, comfortable for the patient to sit on for a treatment. The headrest can be adjusted according to the comforts, needs of the patient and the dentist. The monitor of the computer is on the chair, which aids clear view to the patient and the dental practitioner. The high and low vaccum suctions hasten the flow of fluids from the mouth. LED curing light, scaler hand piece, electrocautery hand piece and the intraoral camera are integrated into the system. The positioning of the chair is programmed. The dental chairs can be easily disinfected. |

| Digital Dental X-ray machines |
 |
We have digital dental x-ray machines (both AC and DC). This equipment has special features to protect the patient from unnecessary radiation. Long cone feature and filtration protects the patient, the dentist and his staff. The machines are easy to clean and decontaminate. All exposure times can be customized or programmed. Easy controls allow the user to switch instantly from conventional intra-oral X-ray film to digital sensors. Digital dental x-ray machine used in our clinics produces 75-90% less radiation than an ordinary x-ray machine. There are very important features on the machine - one can choose if a patient is an adult or a child or which tooth is to be x-rayed so the radiation is limited. Thus it provides a lot of protection from radiation to patients, dentist and staff RVG (radiovideograph) especially when used with a digital dental x-ray machine reduces radiation and saves a lot of time as any x-ray taken can be viewed on the computer monitor immediately. This aids instant diagnosis and treatment. |

| Ultrasonic cleanser |
This machine is used to clean instruments and works on the principles of ultrasonic vibrations. The instruments are put in a solution bath and by the ultrasonic vibrations the debris comes off. After that the instruments are disinfected and sterilized. |
| |
| Sophisticated equipment |
Sophisticated equipment Certain machines are used to aid some dental procedures. For e.g. We use Pmax for scaling, endodontic treatment and periodontal surgeries.
Root apex locator (Dentsply) can be used for locating the apex of the root canal. The rotary instruments are used to negotiate and shape the canals in the root canal treatment. Obtura and System B are used to follow the vertical condensation method of root canal filling |
| |
| Best dental material |
 |
| All the material used– from the resin material, root canal obturation material, bone grafting material, etc is the best available in the market. |
